Weeds - New Invaders
While some invasive weeds are widespread and have been present in Washington for many years, new weed species are entering the state each year, and still others that had previously been present in limited areas are spreading to new regions. Identification and eradication of new weeds (or weeds that are new to a given area) is a high priority for the state. Removing a weed infestation while it is still small and manageable is much preferred to battling a large, widespread infestation in future years.
There are several new weeds to Washington (or new to particular areas of the state) that have been identified as high priority weeds for early detection and eradication. They are listed below (coming soon!). If you discover any of these weeds, please contact your county weed control program or contact us.
